Two Poems

Poems
View Slices of Childhood by Chet Arnold, Earl Phillips

I absolutely love this book. Slices of Childhood has a collection of six poems, and these six poems talk about the important events in a child's life. The first two poems talk about food, the next two poems talk about bathtime and another two poems talks about bathtime. Each event was told from two completely different points of view. The first child is the one who dislikes food, bathtime, and bedtime. The opposite of the first child, the second child absolutely loves food, bathtime, and bedtime.

I would absolutely rate this book a four out of four stars. The poems are easy to understand, so beginning readers will not feel discouraged reading these poems. These poems also connect with children's life events. The illustrations of the books are absolutely engaging. The expression of the child, the mom, and the animals are vividly and clearly on each page. I really like how the author and the illustrator separate the text and the illustration into its own page. This book would be a great introduction to poems because the poems are easy for students to comprehend.

Three Picture Books

Picture Book

The Giving Tree is starting off with a little boy and a tree are best friend. The boy has climbed the tree, eat the tree's apples, and sleep under the tree's shade. When the boy got older, he did not want the tree to be his best friend anymore. He would leave the tree for a long time, and then he came back when he needs some benefits from the tree. The tree gave the boy her apple, her branches, and her trunk. Until the giving tree reduced to a stump, the stump still lets the boy sit down to rest. The tree is always happy to give the boy.

I would recommend this book to all students because this book will teach students to learn how to give and always be happy and learn to not be like the boy who takes advantage of the tree, who always asks the tree for favors, but the boy never admires the tree.
