Three Picture Books

Picture Book

The Giving Tree is starting off with a little boy and a tree are best friend. The boy has climbed the tree, eat the tree's apples, and sleep under the tree's shade. When the boy got older, he did not want the tree to be his best friend anymore. He would leave the tree for a long time, and then he came back when he needs some benefits from the tree. The tree gave the boy her apple, her branches, and her trunk. Until the giving tree reduced to a stump, the stump still lets the boy sit down to rest. The tree is always happy to give the boy.

I would recommend this book to all students because this book will teach students to learn how to give and always be happy and learn to not be like the boy who takes advantage of the tree, who always asks the tree for favors, but the boy never admires the tree.

The Snowy Day is about a young boy's named Peter experience on a snow day. When Peter was outside playing with the snow, every new thing seems to be magic for the young boy. In addition to this exploration, the boy found many ways to enjoy the snow.

I would recommend this book for children to read since it has won the Caldecott Medal. When children read this book, they will develop an understanding of the ways heat transform objects. this book would relate to many students because every student who lives in a that has snow they will enjoy the snowy day like Peter in this story.

Don't Let the Pigeon Stay Up Late is about Pigeon who does not want to go to sleep even though it is getting late. The Pigeon wants to stay awake, and he prefers to party, watch TV, talk about the day, and count the stars. Even though the Pigeon tried to stay awake, but he kept yawning and then eventually fall asleep.

This book would be great for a bedtime story because it would relate to children who do not want to fall asleep before bedtime. Similar to Pigeon, children would make excuses like they are not tired and not yawning. This book is from children's perspective on why they don't want to sleep.

  1. Great selections for your Picture Books here. Mo Willems is so great. He has several popular series now--the Pigeon books, Knuffle Bunny, Elephant and Piggie. There are just so many wonderful characters he has created to capture the attention and imagination of children.
